Alternative Clocks

Historically, most days have 24 hours, each hour 60 minutes, each minute 60 seconds (timezone changes for daylight saving time and leap seconds aside). But it doesn't have to be that way. Here is a simulation of what it could look like differently:

100-Hour Clock

A day has 100 hours, each hour has 100 minutes, each minute has 100 seconds.
00:00:00 = midnight, 50:00:00 = noon.
Ideal when you want higher resolution with just four digits.

Decimal time

Roman Clock (Horae)

In ancient Rome, the day (sunrise to sunset) was divided into 12 equal hours (horae) — regardless of the season. An hour is longer in summer than in winter.
To display the current time, geographic coordinates are required to calculate sunrise and sunset. The system unfortunately breaks down during midsummer nights or at polar latitudes.

🦅 Eagle Clock (BEUS)

According to the Bald Eagle Unit System, a day has 27 🦅 Eagle Hours, each Hour has 30 🦅 Calls, each Call has 60 🦅 Screeches. Midnight = 00:00:00, end of day = 26:59:59.
